Meet the Artist: Ashan'ti

Handmade with Care. Guided by Faith. Rooted in Love.

For a long time, I was in survival mode — pouring myself into teaching, showing up for everyone else, and trying to stay afloat. Art became my way of breathing again. It’s the quiet that settles my mind and the space where I feel closest to God.

I learned how to crochet in December 2024, right after I quit teaching without a backup plan. My cousin taught me how to make a hat over FaceTime, and it quickly became therapy. By February, I was making hoodies — pouring all my anxiety, faith, and hope into every stitch. It helped me heal, trust, and keep going.

But this isn’t new for me. Art has always been my outlet — my way of turning pain into purpose. Years ago, when I studied abroad in Florence, I was alone and going through one of the hardest seasons of my life. I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t speak Italian, but I let faith guide me. Immersing myself in art transformed me. It taught me to honor the process — to let art move through me, to let it heal me.

Hand & Heart grew from that same spirit — a reminder that something beautiful can be made from the hardest moments.

Creativity Without Limits. Art That Feels Like Home.
My journey with art has always been rooted in curiosity and exploration.
From studying performance, photography, and drawing to experimenting with sculpture, installation, painting, and videography, I’ve always been drawn to the endless possibilities of creating.
Over time, I’ve come to see each medium as its own language — tufting, wood burning, crochet — each one teaching me something new about patience, rhythm, and storytelling through texture.
At Hand & Heart, I believe that art is everywhere and in everything.
Through textiles, painting, and mixed-media creations, I celebrate creativity without limits — always learning, always evolving, and always rooted in love, kindness, and the power of self-expression.
Each piece is made with intention — whether it’s a cozy handmade blanket, a thoughtfully painted canvas, or wearable art that tells a story.
I hope that when you experience my work, it feels like home — a reminder that there’s beauty in the process, peace in the making, and love in every detail.
Art you can feel. Love you can hold.
